FRUITS-BERRIES-NUTS / GINKGO
Organic Listing
Order for JAN/FEB 2026 posting. Ancient large gymnosperm tree, a monotypic order. Living fossil: has been around for ~250 million years, but Ginkgo faces extinction today. Males widely planted by urban landscapers (tree is super-hardy to pollution), but females are not (smelly fruit after 40+ years). Will not become invasive. Contains over 2000 phytochemicals. Some take as a health tonic, but not recommended. Seeds live and thus not for consumption, but not treated with anything (fruit pulp is naturally antimicrobial). Seed will produce male and female plants in roughly equal ratios. Seed gathered between Thanksgiving and MLK day, packs of 10 seed with care sheet will be mailed out in Jan/Feb, to USA only. Seed is recalcitrant: viz., delicate and must be kept constantly moist & planted immediately. Pre-vernalized, ready to sow on arrival. Previous years: ~95% viability.
