White Turnip

Single Image
VEGETABLES / RUTABAGA
A very good variety. Raw roots have a softer texture and are juicy and sweet with a honey-like flavor. Cooked roots are crumbly and soft with a potato-like earthy flavor. White roots with green and red tops are elliptic to round and are largely above the soil line. Roots 3.5-5" long, 2.7-4.85" wide, and weigh 10-32 oz. Green leaves. Plants 8.7-14.5" tall and 27-40" in diameter. Donated to SSE by Donald Field of Barnstable, MA. This accession was previously distributed by SSE incorrectly as a turnip, but botanically, it is a rutabaga. SSE Accession # 127629
