VEGETABLES / PEA
SHELLING
Shelling pea. Plants are a lighter colored green with white flowers. Green pods 3-4" long and averaging 6 peas per pod; 1 pod per peduncle. The peas stayed decently tender and sweet when over ripe. Grown by Jeremiah Joehl in 2025 for the Collection Documentation Project; they commented that early in the season when the weather was dry, the plants didn't produce many flowers, but when it rained, they put on more flowers. Later, some of the plants yellowed and started to shrivel up - don't know if it was a disease or genetic, but, once the original plants died, new shoots grew. SSE Accession # 115600
