SNAP-POLE
Pole, snap bean. Excellent flavor and texture; remains crunchy and juicy for an extended period of time. Pods green, long, recurving, non-pubescent; 6-7" long; 0.7" wide. Strong suture string. Pods develop light red stripes at maturity. 5-8 seeds per pod. Seeds dark tan, large with squared ends. Good flavor and texture as a dry bean too. Plants are strong climbers. White flowers. Medium-high productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Early to mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE in 2014 by Paris Fortner of Erie, Michigan. Paris has maintained this bean variety since at least the mid 1990s. Paris received seeds of the variety from the daughter of Dallas Edwards (deceased), who is the woman after whom the variety is named. Dallas Edwards grew and saved seed from the variety “all her life” in Speedwell, Tennessee. Dallas was ninety-some years old when her daughter shared some seeds with Paris. It's used by Paris as a snap bean. SSE Accession # 132347
