C. pepo. Winter squash. May be eaten as a summer squash too. Vegetable marrow. Oblong, solid dark green fruit with a slightly bulbous blossom end. Smooth rind with slight ribbing. Immature fruit are lighter green with pale green flecks. Highly uniform fruit. Mature fruit measure 6-9.5" long, 2.7-4.1" wide, and weigh 0.9-2.6 lbs. Vining plants with rough hairs. Pale orange flesh measures 0.6-1" thick. Excellent eating qualities. BRIX reading: 12.3. Sweet, dense flesh with unique flavor. Slightly stringy, grainy texture. Mid-season maturing. Fruit kept for 107 days on average when stored at Heritage Farm in 2013-2014. Donated to SSE by Fred Dostal. This variety was grown by Fred and his parents, Lewis and Mary Dostal, who received the squash from friends. SSE Accession # 120233
