Canna Red

Beefsteak. Variable fruit shape ranging from 8 oz paste shaped to about 1 lb round, slightly oblate perfect globes - most somewhere in between. Beautiful deep red color inside and out. Amazing classic tomato flavor. Meaty, not too juicy. Regular leaf, indeterminate. Healthy vines to about 6' tall, medium foliage coverage. Excellent for fresh eating, salsa, juicing, and canning. A few fruits mid-season, then two large waves of harvest thereafter. Very productive. Grown by Reid Mannetter in 2025 for the Collection Documentation Project; Reid commented it is a fantastic variety, will grow again. It seemed somewhat like a cross of a large beefsteak and a main season tomato. SSE Accession # 126912
