HEAD
Butterhead. Forms a moderately well-defined head. Dark green leaves with heavy purple tinge. Standard butterhead leaves. Relatively small plants reach 5-7" tall and 10-12" in diameter at market maturity. Largest leaves measure 4-5" long, 6-8" wide. Buttery, crisp texture; slightly bitter. Average time to bolting when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. Black seeds. Given to SSE by Robert Wood (KS WO R) who offered this variety in the 1990 SSE Yearbook Exchange where he stated it was acquired from the Parker and Milner families, Pendleton, IN.
