FRUITS-BERRIES-NUTS / PEAR
AKA "AC Harrow Delight."
Scion wood. Please order during dormant season, be ready to graft when received.
European style, very good fresh eating pear. Medium size, light green flesh with attractive orange flush, cream flesh, and buttery melting flesh, smooth texture. Early pick, moderate keeper (2-3 weeks).
Very resistant to fireblight and pear scab. Also resistant to cedar trellis rust.
Heavy yielder, tending to over-produce. Thin fruit in late May/early June to improve fruit size and flavor, and to prevent the tree from falling into an alternate-year bearing pattern. Ripens mid-season, a month before Bartlett.
Self infertile; requires a mid-to-late bloom pollenizer (category 3) such as Moonglow or Bartlett. Precocious.
USDA zone 4-9. Introduced 1970s by the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research station in Harrow, Ontario. Parentage: (Old Home x ‘Early Sweet’) x ‘Bartlett’
