Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. This variety was introduced in 1965 by horticulturist Dr. Hoffman of the U.S. Vegetable Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina. SSE Accession # 101054
