Pole. This variety can be either a snap or dry bean. Average flavor as a snap bean. Good texture and flavor as a dry bean. Strongly climbing plants have short, slightly curved pods with moderate seed constriction. Solid white flowers. Pods mature to solid pale yellow. Fully expanded pods measure 4.2-4.5" and 0.5" wide. 6-8 seeds per pod. Tan seeds have dark brown dashes and squared ends. Moderate to low productivity when grown at Heritage Farm in 2018. Late season maturity. David Johansen (OH JO D2) received this variety from Dan Hersberger, an Amish man in Wayne County, Ohio. Dan's family has grown it for at least 3 generations. Johansen shared this variety with SSE in the mid 2000s and stated that the name translates to English as "angled bean" or "crooked bean." SSE Accession # 105608
