POPCORN
Plant avgs 5.2' tall with red and green stems, avg of 2 tillers per plant. Tassels have some secondary branching, avg 13.3" long. Small, cylindrical-conical ears with yellow colored kernels and white cobs, avg 14 rows in a regular pattern. Ears avg 3.3" long, 1" wide. Ear set avgs 5 per plant. Kernels pop type, yellow, mostly rounded with tiny point, standard size. Tassels mid-season. A great popper. Pops to a yellow color. Popped corn has a delicious, robust, nutty flavor Donated to SSE by John Michael and passed down from John's great-grandfather, Ernest V. Brown, who grew this popcorn in Whitley County, Indiana. Mr. Brown received the corn variety circa 1910 from his neighbors, the Overmeyer family. The Overmeyer family originally brought to Indiana from Wisconsin when they moved to Whitley County.
