SWEET
Mid-season, white sweet corn. Ears 5-7 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. 16-20 straight kernel rows per ear. Large kernels. White cobs. Plants 6-8 feet tall. Green and red stems. One to two tillers per plant. Sweet corn has disappointing flavor. Not very sweet. Juicy, but rather watery tasting. Very tender kernels. Acquired by SSE from R.H. Shumway. The "Vegetables of New York" series indicates this variety was developed by C.D. Keller of Toledo, OH. He offered it to the W. Atlee Burpee seed house who first sold it in their 1905 catalog.
