Plants 4.5-6' tall. Some red coloration on stem. Short, thick, green pods. Downy pods have 6-9 ridges per fruit. Green leaves and petioles with red pigment at leaf attachment. Seed mature pods reach 4.5-5" long and 1.5-2" in diameter. Best eaten under 1.5" long. Unique flavor. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE in 1993 by James Crow. The variety was originally brought to Sherman, TX from Macon, GA in about 1865 by James Crow's grandfather, Able Marion Crow, who later settled in Ada, OK in 1905. SSE Accession # 114039
