Leesburg

Dark green, elongate fruit, 7.5-16" long, 4.5-7.5" wide, 3.5-14.5 lbs. The 2013 HF watermelon plot had fertility problems and produced undersized fruit. Pink flesh, rind thickness 0.3-0.5". Seeds white w/ tan tip. Easy to cut; not very sweet; texture somewhat stringy. Mid-season maturity, susceptible to blossom end rot and ringspot virus when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. This accession matches the description of Leesburg listed in ASGROW, 1940. Donated to SSE by Marvin Klitzke (OR KL M). SSE Accession # 127806
