Diamond

Purple-black, elongate, slightly curved fruit. Fruit are borne singly and measure 4-6" long, 2" wide, 3-6 oz at market maturity. Stems and leaves green, petioles greenish violet. Flowers white in center with light purple perimeter. Seed mature fruit are yellow-brown, 5-7" long, 1.5-2.5" wide, 4-10 oz. Plants are short, reaching only 15-20" tall. Mid-season maturity. Standard flavor with a creamy texture. Collected from the Ukraine by SSE in 1993. First offered in our 1994 seed catalog where it was described it as a Ukrainian variety. SSE Accession # 109614
