C. moschata. Butternut squash. Tan colored fruit with rather long necks for a butternut. Slight cream colored striping. Fruit measure 12-15 inches long, 3-4.5 inches wide, and weigh up to 4 pounds. Dark orange flesh up to 0.75 inches thick. Moderately vining variety. Mid-season maturing and above average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Very good eating qualities. Sweet and flavorful, with a slightly gooey texture. Dry matter content 15.95. BRIX reading 11.0. Donated to SSE by Dan Quickert (CA QU D) who 1985 SSE Yearbook Exchange listing indicates this was selected from the Waltham Butternut. SSE Accession # 120248
