Hilary's Pole

This variety is a pole bean that can be used in either the snap or dry stage. The dry beans are tan with brown strips. They are medium sized ovals. They have a good texture--smooth, meaty, and plump--and a nice, strong flavor. The snap beans must be eaten when small. They have a crisp texture when they are small, but become rather strong and astringent if the are bigger. Each pod is between 4-4.5" long and contains 5-6 seeds. They are light green, slightly curved, wide, and flat. The pods are produced high up on the vines. The plants have dark green foliage and pink flowers. It was moderately productive during the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm. SSE Accession # 103293
