DRY-BUSH
I was given these seeds by Tom Jerde (WI JE T2) of Westby, WI on 11/7/12 at a seed swap at the Viroqua Public Library. Tom said they were a Glenn Drowns' family heirloom and that they were his favorite culinary dry bean. Seed produced in 2017.
History from Glenn Drowns website, Sand Hill Heirloom Seeds and Poultry Preservation Center: A very old horticultural type bean that was passed down in my mother's family for a number of years. Beans are kidney shaped and pinkish with red streaks.
Bjorn's Description: (Phaseolus vulgaris) Kidney sized dry beans that are grey/pinkish with brown/maroon spots/streaks. Sometimes seed color is almost completely maroon with a couple grey/pinkish spots. 24” tall plants that are sturdy. White blossoms with pinkish tinge. Green with pink striped straight pods. In 2015, plants had between 6-39 pods per plant. Pods have 4 beans each. Heavy producers. Moderately productive. They are a delicious bean for burritos and chili.
