Climbing vine, minimal prostrate growth. Non-pigmented plants and pods. White flowers. Straight, pendant pods measure 6-8" long by 0.4" wide. Cream-colored, kidney-shaped seeds with black eyes. Dry cowpeas have standard flavor with a dry aftertaste, and have a short cooking time. 13-17 seeds per pod. Standard productivity. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Pernie Dunn, likely in the late 1980s. Dunn indicated this variety was grown in the family over 60 years. SSE estimates it likely dates to at least the 1920s. SSE Accession # 108848
