Pink Plume

An incredibly beautiful celery with a taste like none other. Lovely purple petioles with dark green leaves. Plants 17-32" tall and 30-40" wide with 17-22" long and 0.25-0.5" wide petioles. Highly uniform plants have solid petioles that are somewhat prostrate growing. This variety has a very strong spicy, fennel-like taste. Rated as second favorite of the 5 celery grown in 2015. Donated to SSE in 2002 by Blane Bourgeois (AR BO B). In 1894 the Peter Henderson & Co. seed house of New York introduced Pink Plume celery. Its beautiful appearance and intense flavor inspired gardeners and seed companies to add it to their collections. By 1903 over 100 seed houses across North America were offering this variety.
