VEGETABLES / SQUASH
C.-MOSCHATA
C. moschata. This is a buff-colored, necked squash with some green striping. There is a bit of variation in the shape. Fruits are 12-23" long, 5-5" in diameter, and 4-7lbs. The flesh is pale orange with a greenish overcast and is relatively thin at 0.5" thick at most. It is especially thin in the bulb, thought the spongy seed cavity extends most of the way up the neck. During the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm, this variety had medium productivity, with an average of 5.1 marketable fruit per plant, though many unmarketable fruit were left in the field. This variety does not store well. It is stringy and not dry. SSE Accession # 120031
