Tall, deeply pigmented plants. Inflorescences are dark purple and clustered at the at the tips of the main stem and side branches. 5.5-6.5' tall. Dark green leaves, developing a purple blush when under stress or late in the season. Beautiful fall colors! Red stems and petioles. Stems said to be used as dye-stuff. Given to SSE by William Woys Weaver (PA WE W) who acquired this variety from N. Aziz, France. SSE Accession # 100108
