A parthenocarpic variety great for greenhouse growing, but will still form seeds when field grown. Field grown cucumbers that have been pollinated are highly curved. Greenhouse grown, parthenocarpic fruit are long and straight. Market mature fruit have dark green glossy smooth skin with white spines. Fruit has ever so slight ribbing. White flesh. Fruit measure 7.85-11" long and 1.25-1.85" in diameter and weigh up to 15 oz. Yellow seed mature fruit with green blotches 10-15" long, 2-3" in diameter, and weigh up to 15 oz. Moderate fruit set later maturing when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Moderately sweet and juicy variety that is rather crisp and crunchy. Acquired by SSE from Thompson & Morgan. CV Tho offered this variety from at least 1981-1990. The original Telegraph cucumber was developed and introduced by William Rollison and Sons in the UK prior to 1861. By the turn of the 20th century, many seed companies in the UK were releasing their own “Improved Telegraph” cucumbers. Keeping with this tradition, CV Tho indicated that they were selling their own “improved strain” in the 1981 catalog. SSE Accession # 109173
