DRY-BUSH
Dry bean. Small, white navy type bean. Variety is variable in growth habit from bush to half-runner. Pods are also variable in length with some plants producing 3-4" pods and others up to 5". All pods are green when flat and immature, and yellow with purple striping at the mature stage. Suture string present. Plants are non-pigmented with white flowers. Dry pods are shattering type. 6-8 seeds per pod. Not recommended as a snap bean. Standard flavor as a shelling bean. Mid-season maturing to dry pod stage when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Plants showed variation in disease resistance in 2014. Acquired by SSE in the 1980s from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation. Described by CV Abu as an heirloom strain grown in the Puget Sound region of Washington since circa 1900. SSE Accession # 102298
