Red, medium-sized, round fruit. Some have a pointed blossom end, others do not. Moderate to severe cracking; some splitting and blotchy ripening in 2012, a drought year at Heritage Farm. Good flavor; tart; slightly sweet; firm texture; juicy; tough skin; probably best used in canning or as a medium-sized slicing tomato. Indeterminate; regular leaves; inserted style. Donated to SSE by Susan Hedrick. This variety was originally developed circa 1920 by Mr. Merritt of Tacoma, WA where it became a well-known local variety. It's named for Merritt's farm which was located on 6th Avenue. SSE Accession # 122896
