Dark red pods are long and thin and have 6-9 ridges with soft hairs. Pods measure 6.5-10 inches long and 0.5-0.75 inches wide. Plants have flowers with petal blotch, red stems, and three lobed green leaves with red veins. Shorter plants up to 4 feet tall. Mid-season maturity and average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Pods not as slimy when cooked and have a mild flavor. Pods retain red color when cooked. Donated to SSE in 2002 by Blane Bourgeois (AR BO B) who acquired this variety from John Lewis, Jr. (VA LE J2). Lewis obtained the variety in 1994 from James and Juanita Bowling (VA BO J). The Bowlings began offering this variety in the 1990 SSE Yearbook Exchange and stated it's been in the family since the 1930s. SSE Accession # 114088
