Genuine Italian Potato Leaf

Large dark pink beefsteak. Exceptionally dark pink flesh. Meaty texture, mild flavor, low acidity, good flavor. Fruit weigh 0.5-1.0lb and measure 3-5" wide. Large indeterminate plants measure 5-6' tall. Fruit born singly. Potato leaf type. Large, fasciated flowers with exserted stigmas. Brix 5.0. Mid season maturity. SSE acquired this variety in 2015 when Gary Staley’s seed collection was sent to Heritage Farm after he passed away. Gary got his seeds from Letherman’s Seed Company in the early 80s and he was the source for nearly everyone who listed it in the SSE Yearbook Exchange from 1985 to 2015. The variety was selected and developed by Letherman’s, and according to SSE’s Garden Seed Inventory publications, was inconsistently available in the US seed trade between 1981 and 2004. It appears to have dropped from the seed trade sometime between 2004 and 2015. SSE Accession # 132857
