C. annuum. Sweet bell pepper. Bell shaped peppers ripen from green to dark red and measure 2.5-3.5 long, 2.5-2.8 inches wide, and weigh up to 5 ounces. Fruit erect on plants. Plants have sparse branching and measure up to 30 inches tall. Above average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Fruit is thin walled, sweet, somewhat juicy, not super crunchy. Very good tasting. This accession matches the description of Merrimack Wonder listed in the Hepler catalogue from 1947. Acquired by SSE at an unknown date from H. K. Webster Co. (CV Web), which doesn’t appear to be in operation as of 2019. This variety was developed by Prof. J. R. Hepler at the University of New Hampshire in 1939. Prof. Hepler’s son Billy offered this variety in the Billy Hepler Seed Company 1947-1962. SSE Accession # 116133
