Flor de Mayo

VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-BUSH
Mexican, but my most productive dry bush bean (or short vine) even in mostly shade. Seeds 7/16x5/16x1/4", 75/ounce, rounded ends, maroon or brick red speckles, denser at one end of the seed or at hilum side, highly variable pattern, over pinkish-tan, with much variation in color darkness and shade. There are also cream with brown or black, and pale pink with brown seeds. Many seeds have tiny bumps or pits the size of the speckles. Did fantastically well here in Michigan despite Mexican origin. Very easy to shell from short papery pod. I got 280 seeds from about 10 plants in sun, and lower yield under a black walnut. Super productive unless you neglect to water during exceptional heat and drought. Said to have exceptional taste and unusual texture by Santa Fe chefs. 25 2022-2023 seed.
