Schweizer Riesen

Edible podded. 3-5' tall plants benefit from a structure to climb on. Larger sized green pods are about 3" long. Plants are green with a small amount of variegation on the leaves and have purple flowers. Pods are crunchy and said to be tasty. Grown by Linda Andersen in 2024 for the Collection Documentation Project; Linda commented they did not get many pods from the variety, though the chosen location may have been a contributing factor. Donated to SSE by Nathan Corymb (NY CO N, previously CO CO N) who received this variety from a commercial source in Switzerland named Ekkharthof. SSE Accession # 115835
