Pole bean. Green stems and leaves. White flowers. Pods green when flat, yellow at shelling stage, leathery-podded when dry. Pods are round in diameter, straight with J-hook curve at tip, with medium, downward curving beaks. Mature pods 4.5-5.5" long, 0.5" wide. Very firm and crisp as a snap bean, edible both flat and fully expanded. As a shelling bean, moist flesh and mild flavor. 4-9 seeds per pod. White seeds. Dry beans have a mild flavor with a grainy texture. Thin skin falls off easily. Quick-cooking. Late season maturity when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Frank Adkins (NC AD F) who requested the variety in 1992 from member Anna Pratt (KY PR A). Pratt received the variety from Carman Swanigan of Georgetown, Kentucky.
