Krasnoselskaya

Round, bicolor roots with bright green tops and yellow bottoms. Yellow flesh. Fair flavor and slightly bitter but with a good, smooth texture. Roots reach 3-5 inches long, 3-4 inches wide. Relatively coarse skin texture. Plants reach 17-22 inches tall. Least cold hardy of all 13 rutabagas grown at Heritage Farm in 2017. Also had the most severe powdery mildew symptoms. This accession matches the description of Krasnoselskaya listed in the 1910 Gurney catalogue. SSE Accession # 119263
