Highmoor Yellow Eye

Evaluated at Heritage Farm in 2025, description in progress. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. Withee received the variety from Elwyn Meader (1910-1996), a former plant breeder at the University of New Hampshire from 1948-1966. However, this variety originated at the University of Maine Agricultural Experiment Station sometime before 1950 and is named for one of the station's farms, Highmoor Farm in Monmouth, ME.
