DRY-POLE
Pole Dry. True Red Cranbery one of the first beans ever grown in New England. More cultivated in this country than any other variety. Before its unequaled reign as New England’s most regarded dry bean. TRC could have been found climbing the stalks of Abenaki nation crops. Mentioned in American Cookery in 1796 was nearly forgotten by mid 20th century. About this time, this nearly extinct heirloom bean was rediscovered by celebrated bean collector, John Withee of his Wanigan bean network fame. Searching for 11 years after reading about a Red Cranberry bean in a 1700's gardening encyclopedia. Eventually found on Mr. Taylor's farm in Steep Falls, Maine.
