VEGETABLES / OKRA
Green, downy pods. Most are slightly curved, some are straight. Medium-sized pods have 8 or 9 ridges. Good, earthy flavor. Plants are green with some red pigmentation on the stem and at the leaf-petiole junction. Dry pods measure 5-7" long by 1" wide. Plants severely infected with bacterial wilt in 2014 growout at Heritage Farm. No lodging. SSE requested this variety from Exchange lister Anthony West, who with his wife Mary, owns and operates Appalachian Heirloom Plant Farm Seed Conservancy & Apiary in Winchester, Ohio. This variety was grown by Jimmy T. Morris in the 1940s and 1950s in Kentucky. SSE Accession # 114108
