Strawberry

Light green, oblong fruit with medium to dark green stripes. Fruits are up to 19" long, 7" wide, and weigh up to 22.5lbs. This variety produced few fruits in 2023, resulting in a small sample size. Red flesh with a rind up to 1" thick. Moderately sweet with a soft texture. Somewhat dilute flavor. Fairly seedy. White seeds. Mid to late-season maturity; intermediate productivity in 2013 and lower productivity in 2023 when grown at Heritage Farm. This accession is a reasonable match to the 'Strawberry' watermelon described in Burpee's 1883 catalog. SSE Accession # 127858
