Early maturing, hollow crowned. See the entry in Restoring America's Food Traditions, edited by Gary Nabhan. Described has having a stubby but exceedingly tender root that tapers very rapidly in the first 6 inches, main root up to 3 inches in diameter. My roots were close to cylindrical, main root up to about 4 inches long. I found seeds are best started in deep (4 inch) narrow pots.
