HEAD
Butterhead. Well-developed head. Dark green, round leaves have extensive dark burgundy tinge. Strong leaf blade blistering and slight undulation. Plants average 6" tall and 10" in diameter. Largest leaves average 5.1" long by 6.1" wide. Excellent texture. Good flavor with sweet aftertaste. Slightly bitter. Black-seeded. Early maturing. Donated to SSE by Lois Bell and grown by Lois' grandmother in the late 1800's. It has been maintained by the family in Stark County, OH. SSE Accession # 111932
