McClelland Family Heirloom

Pole lima. Small seeds. Two seed phenotypes, as confirmed by donor: most are white with tan and dark purple mottling; some are solid white. Green limas have a slightly sweet and fruity flavor; smooth texture. Pods slightly curved. Mature pods 2.1-2.8" long; 0.6-0.9" wide. 2-4 seeds per pod. Early maturing; average productivity when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by George McClelland who began growing this variety in 1989 when he received it from his mother, Shirley Lee (Eichorn) McClelland. It was passed down from Shirley's mother, Charity Eichorn. SSE Accession # 131754
