Red fruit, heart-shaped to cylindrical. Some variation in thickness and length. Fruit 3-4" long, 2-3" in diameter; 6oz. Radial cracking moderate to severe, concentric cracking slight to moderate. Some blossom end rot in 2011; none in 2012. Standard flavor; low-medium acid; skin not too tough; juicy and mushy texture. Better suited for sauce or paste than fresh eating. Midseason maturity. Indeterminate; regular leaves; flower stigma same level as style. Donated to SSE by David Lavoie (ME LA D). This variety was first offered in the 1978 SSE Yearbook Exchange by Mick Cannon (NY CA M) who described it's history as "brought by Phillip Tolli from Italy in 1919 to Canada, then to Argentina, then to Cleveland, then to upstate New York."
