Strongly climbing vines. Violet flowers. Slight purple pigment on petioles and pod tips. Long, slightly curved, pendant pods, 8-11" long by 0.4" wide. Fresh pods good as string bean or canned, according to donor. Oblong, rose-colored seeds with dark eyes. 8-19 seeds per pod. Dry cowpeas have standard flavor. Standard productivity. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Ron Joyner (NC JO R). He obtained the variety from Elmore Crudup, NC in 1985. It's been in the Crudup family since before 1965. SSE Accession # 108984
