Multi-use variety. Can be used as grain, bird seed, cover crop, and porridge. Variety has unusual high tillers/branches up to 20 per plant. Plants measure 7-9.5 feet tall. Semi-compact and elliptic inflorescences are well-exserted and measure 6-8.5 inches long. Medium sized ovate seeds are brown in color with black glumes. Easy to thresh. Early to flower when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE in the mid 1990s by Glenn Drowns (IA DR G) who acquired this variety from Louise Bastable (MA BA L). Bastable received it in 1988 from Mike Deyo (OH DE M) who obtained it from J. L. Hudson, Seedsman (CV Hud). SSE Accession # 119296
