Alabama #1 Purple Pod

Pole/snap. Great texture, juicy and sweet with good flavor. Long, slightly curved immature pods, have some fine hairs. Fully expanded immature pods measure 6-7" long and 0.4-0.5" wide. Suture string turns purple as pods mature. Mature pods turn pale yellow with a dark purple blush. Strongly climbing plants have dark green leaves. Dry pods in late August. 8 seeds per pod. Medium sized, shiny, black, cuboid seeds. Donated to SSE by Robert J. Wood (KS WO R) offered this variety in the 1990 SSE Exchange and stated that it does well when planted in corn.
