Large, pink, beefsteak tomato. Indeterminate growth habit. Fruit oblate with a deeply recessed stem end. Wide pedicel scar. Slightly indented or cat-faced blossom end. Strong ribbing at stem end, extending entire length of fruit. Moderate radial cracking on all fruit. Concentric cracking uncommon, minor. Fruit fasciation common. Potato leaves. Slightly exserted stigma. Fruit borne singly or in pairs. Ripe fruit measure 2.5-3.7" long by 3.8-4.7" wide and weigh 10-20oz. Good flavor; medium acidity; moderately sweet; very meaty texture. Late maturing. Low productivity when grown at Heritage Farm in 2013. This variety is one of the two original Bavarian heirlooms that started SSE. It was brought to the U.S. by Diane Ott Whealy's great-grandparents when they immigrated to St. Lucas, Iowa in the 1870s. The seed stock of this accession was donated to SSE by Diane Ott Whealy's aunt, Lorraine Schrandt (IA SC L). SSE Accession # 121406
