VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
Pole/snap. Good for canning. Average white bean flavor when cooked. Vigorously climbing habit. Very early maturing especially for a pole bean. Pods hang in clusters of 4-6 and are easy to pick. Green immature pods are constricted and slightly curved. Mature pods are yellow with a reddish blush. Fully expanded pods measure 3.8-5.0" long and 0.4-0.6" wide. 6-7 seeds per pod. Small cream colored seeds have brown dashes and squared ends. Susceptible to disease. Low productivity when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018 under high disease pressure. Given to SSE by John Inabnitt (KY IN J) who received the variety during the 1980s from an elderly woman living in Owsley County, Kentucky. It's reportedly a good bean for canning.
