Pole bean, vigorous with a strong twining tendency. White flowers. Green immature pods become yellow as they mature. Slightly curved, flat pods have a medium beak. Moderate constriction between seeds. Mature pods average 4" long by 1/2" wide. Suture string present. Green pods were found by staff to be slightly tough and fibrous, though donor uses the bean as a snap bean, shelling (horticultural) bean, and dry bean. Moderately easy to shell with a green bean flavor and smooth texture. Standard productivity. Leathery dry pods contain 3-6 seeds per pod. White, cuboidal bean with standard flavor and texture. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Angela Crowder. Originally brought to Spokane, Washington in about 1909 by Angela's mother, Julia Asterino, when she emigrated from Catanzaro, Italy. Used by the family as a snap, shell, and dry bean. SSE Accession # 129324
